Les Bons Mots is my love letter to France and all things French. I fell in love with this beautiful language while studying it through all four years of high school. For university I went to Tisch School of the Arts at NYU where the study of Drama and English Literature took over my life and left no room for French. I promised myself that someday I'd find the time to study it again. In 2002 my husband and I celebrated our fifth anniversary by taking a trip to Paris. That trip inspired me to take up study again. Upon our return to New York I registered for study at the French Institute Alliance Française. I've moved into the intermediate level of study now, but trust me - I'm still very much a student!

My mother taught me to stitch when I was a little girl and it's been a part of my life ever since. Here in New York I've become fast friends with a group of stitchers known as the MetroStitchers. It was on one of our weekend stitch-aways that the idea for Les Bons Mots was born. A fellow francophile and I agreed that we would stitch anything with French on it... maybe others would like to as well. So that's how an American girl came to design in French.

I hope you like the designs and enjoy having a little French in your life,

Jennifer Gill

P.S. I thought you'd enjoy this picture of my chief assistant, Bogie Monster. He gets really picky on photo shoots.
